Residential treatment is not supposed to be the end of recovery.
For many people, returning home is one of the most important parts of the process because everyday life brings back the routines, relationships, responsibilities and triggers that may have contributed to addiction in the first place.
InHarmoni therefore includes aftercare and continuing-care planning within its residential programme.
What does aftercare involve?
The exact plan depends on the individual.
It may include ongoing counselling, relapse-prevention work, referrals to professionals in the client’s home country, family support and continued kontakt with the treatment team.
InHarmoni’s 28-day programmes include four months of aftercare, with each client paired with a case manager for counselling and follow-up.
Why is aftercare important?
Residential treatment creates a protected environment. Home does not.
Someone may return to the same job, relationship, social circle or location where their addiction developed. The ability to apply what was learned in treatment to real life is therefore critical.
What happens during the final stage of treatment?
InHarmoni’s fourth week focuses on integration and planning.
This includes aftercare planning, relapse-prevention protocols, family sessions and continuing-care arrangements.
The objective is to leave treatment with a plan rather than simply a discharge date.
Does InHarmoni stay involved?
Yes.
The centre’s philosophy is that recovery continues beyond residential treatment. Its programme includes individual aftercare, and it can also work with referring professionals to support continuity of care and provide detailed discharge information.
